Permanent Account Number (PAN)

Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a ten-digit alphanumeric identifier, issued by Income Tax Department. Each assesses (e.g. individual, firm, company etc.) is issued a unique PAN.

All existing assesses or taxpayers or persons who are required to file a return of income, even on behalf of others, must have a PAN. Any person, who intends to enter into economic or financial transactions, where quoting PAN is mandatory, must also have a PAN.


There are Two Types of PAN Application:

Form 49A:     For Fresh Application of PAN
Form 49AA:  For Fresh Application of PAN of Foreign Citizen

In case, the PAN holder lost the PAN, or there is correction in the PAN data following form would be submitted

Request for New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN data

PAN Card Dispatch

Normally 25 days to 30 days are required to process the application, provided application is found to be in order.

If your PAN Status shows that your application at Tin-Facilitation Centre or not processed due to certain discrepancies in the form or proper documents are not attached.
